Sony Digital Flash Recorder ICD PX312 good for the money

Sony Digital Flash Voice Recorder (ICD-PX312)
  • Built-in 2 GB flash memory
  • Approximately 72 Hours of battery life (recording)
  • Memory Card Expansion Slot (microSD/M2)
  • Records in MP3 (320 kbps-8 kbps)
  • lacks some important features. This product was offered for a good price. I was looking forward to using the convenient file marking feature but it only works for files that were created by the device. Therefore if you play a file from an MP3 prerecorded blog for example it will hold your last place if you turn it off but you will lose that place if you switch to another file so you could get around this by recording another file indicating where you left off.
Great for the price Although I was hesitant on the price I'm a grad student it is much better than the previous Sony recorders I have used 2 others cheaper models around $30. I am a pharmacy student at the University of Iowa and I prefer to record my lectures because it is difficult to write down everything I think is necessary for comprehension. So although I don't use this for recording music concerts etc. I can speak from a standpoint of lecture recording. I was surprised at this recorder's ability to ignore extraneous sound. With my previous recorders I would ask my professor if it was okay to put the recorder at or near the podium to record the best sound especially if the room had a noisy heater/air conditioner or other background noises. There is also a lot of noise from fellow students shuffling papers looking through notes getting in their bags etc. With this recorder I am able to keep it as my desk as long as I am careful not to ruffle my notes because it is so close or cough into the microphone and it picks up the professor even when I have a hard time hearing the professor in lecture. So overallPro'sDurable I have dropped it several times and it's fineMiniUSB transport very commonConvenient On/Off/hold buttonEasy navigation between folders great for recording different classes and keeping them all togetherMicroSD chip I haven't used this but it would greatly expand memory.Takes 2 AAA batteries easy to findMicrophone in & headphone out portExtra functions Tmark scene which I don't use but could be useful to othersEasy transfer to computer I downloaded FREE software/driver from the Sony website very simple and picks up any folders to which I transferred the MP3 filesCon'sYou are not going to get what you would pay for a $100 or more recorder. However for recording lectures or something similar where there is a significant amount of background noise this recorder does a good job.
A Good Voice Recorder This Voice recorder color is good and the style is nice. It is easy to use. And the shipping is fast. I will recommend it to friends.
Easy to use Unlike many consumer products with lots of features this recorder is easy to use. Intuitive with big buttons. I would say the audio quality is excellent much better than I expected. The size is just right. It hides in a pocket but is easy to hold and operate with hand while driving. It has a good user manual. You should actually read this.
Noise cut feature works so well I used to record lectures using MIcrosoft Word Notebook on my layout on my MacBook Pro and it's just so hard to listen it after because the audio is filled with so terrible noise. This Sony IC recorder just saves me a great deal of time. It gives a very clear crisp sound. It's really worth the money I paid for.
good for the money i really don't know if i am qualified to comment on this product but here it goes. the family had a old old voice recorder about 4 times the size of this tape reel type it make more noise then ? i bought this unit to mainly play around with and combine bits and pieces off my i phone to make one complete project for fun . i feel it is worth the money easy to you works well being digital but i do wish i had a higher definition / quality unit in addition to.
Small But Extremely Effective I purchased the Sony Digital Flash Voice Recorder ICDPX312 hoping for a convenient way to record a quick song. It has been a blessing! It's very easy to use and has a good sound but when transfered to a computer file it sounds extraordinary! Very compatible with a computer. This is a great device for a songwriter speech writer etc. I've sure been pleased with this purchase. It's small but powerful.
    Love it!
Outstanding It is a bit complex but performs much better than I had anticipated. In addition to the many recording assignments I give it I use it as a mike for a video camera.
Works great for my lectures at school It's very easy to use and I can clearly understand what my teacher is saying on playback. Could be a bit easier to use.
