  • Keep it simple stupid. I lost mine only a few weeks after it arrived but I wish I could find it again. It was easy to use small enough to fit in my pocket and gave me crystal clear recordings every time. Perfect for note taking and paranormal investigations.
Great for learning music!. My application for the recorder is to help me to transcribe and learn new songs to play on my clarinet. I spent some time researching different models of digital voice recorders learning about their features and capabilities and the PX820 turned out to be the only one which has all the features I need It records in MP3 format and has a USB port so I can download and upload music directly to and from my computer. I can also connect it directly to most any audio source such as a cassette player or IPOD or CD player using a mini plug cable to record music. Two important features which I found together only on the Sony are AB Repeat which allows the user to easily select any portion of a song to repeat continuously and the Digital Pitch Control which allows one to slow down the music to as much as 1/2 speed while preserving the original pitch. These two features alone make the PX820 an invaluable tool for learning a song.
Great Recorder Great for students or journalist who need to the point notes. Never miss a word and get that statement correct.
Great device for tech challenged Bought this for someone who doesn't deal with technology. They figured out how to record with it without issue. Since it stores the audio as MP3 the format is nearly universally understood by electronic devices. This recorder shows up as a thumb drive when you plug it into a computer so transferring the MP3 files off is just like a thumb drive. Almost any audio player should be able to use the files then.Construction feels solid device is small and convenient size. Not a whole lot of features but this is way better than the old micro cassette recorders and just about as simple.
Works like it should I use this for work and it is exactly what I wanted. It has built in noise reduction and it transfers very easily to a pc. If you have to delete a section while recording that is easy also.
Display is illegible After light use for 5 months the display is essentially unreadable Sure. it records but it is nearly impossible to track files or change settings when only 30% of the screen has legible characters at any time. We purchased Sony recorders where I work prior to this one so I thought it was a safe buy for our office. Not so. Extremely disappointed.
Washed on cold/cold still works! I read a review where the owner stated he had high humidity problems due to keeping his batteries refrigerated. I put my PX820 through and entire wash cycle by accident and it still worksafter taking the batteries out and letting it dry for a couple of days. The buttons all seem to still function so far as I've been able to tell. Also all the files I had recorded stayed intact. I was amazed and impressed. One thing about the product though. I bought mine at a wellknown and very large retail store that some call Wally World and it was only $60. Just thought I'd mention that.
it is a good item the Sony ICDPX820 Digital Voice Recorder is very good. there are a lot of functions with it. and the voice it record is very clear. i like it.
Superb for recording galaxy echo transponder signals Purchased this on planet A3 to replace my IPX4 receiver that fried during suborbital entry. The circuitry is late 20th century yet adaptable using standard switchover matrices. On a trial run through Vortex B it was able to detect and record galaxy echo transponder signals in the 5.6 to 11.3 range using subspectrum array boosters. This range is acceptable for safe triangulation vectoring but falls well below what is required for tandems of two or greater. For solo vectoring it is fine and reliable enough to serve as an adequate bandaid until I reach GrommetFIVE.
Fragile I bought this recorder 5 months ago and to record my lectures. I store my batteries in refrigerator for longer half life. Before putting in recorder I let batteries get up to room temperature. The problem is sometimes there's a little condensation on batteries. I tried wiping them off but may have been a small amount of moisture. My [Sony PX820] recorder had problems ever since. First rewind button would stop working sporadically. Now the play stop rewind buttons don't respond. All I can do is fast forward and turn on/off. Needless to say this recorder is not durable at all and must be kept away from any moisture. If you live hot humid place like I do keep in zip lock bag or protective case. I know it sounds like it's my own fault but believe me it's not.
