Nice quality too hard to convert I may be a goofus but I tried this on a live recording and it did very well. However the micromini jacks which tend to promote noise and the fact that you just can't hit replay and listen you need other software not mentioned prior to sale gives this a lower mark than it could have. It is simply a twin condenser mic combo that records digitally to a format not recognized by computers.
Needs improvement Ive own the zoom H2 for quite sometime and stopped using this recorder because of 2 things. Battery life and the display. This consumes lotsa juice and I don't like to be changing batteries all the time. Also the screen display is very small. It does record really well but these two things really stand in my way. I have the Olympus Ls 11 and I'm very satisfied. This is just my opinion and I'm sure people are very happy with the Zoom H2. There's another model the Zoom H2n. I'm planning on getting it cause I do love the surround sound and the H2n has five mikes. When I get it I will write more on that.
Very Handy!! I am a Saxophonist on GigMasters.comwww.gigmasters.com/saxophone/ChrisKnightAnd I needed something to record and download my music samples onto my website. The Portable recorder did just that!!! Very easy to use! Will even convert .wav files to .mp3 in a matter of minutes. The only down fall is I wish it recorded oneself while a music player was connected directly into it. The portable microphone becomes disconnected once something is connected into the recorder. It will however record the music that is coming into it. Another down fall is that the display screen is too small in my opinion.
Good for certain projects abysmal for others the Zoom H2 is a decent but overpriced recorder I bought the Zoom H2 recorder for my roommate as we both want to make indie films and we'd heard it was a good starter soundrecorder for dialog in lowbudget productions when connected to a decent mic. We had both used one for classes at our college. It's good mainly for dialog and for some minor soundeffects work but it's not the greatest. The $150+ price is a bit outlandish considering he had an MP3 player with a builtin mic that produced sound equally as good and clear that cost far less. After tinkering with it for a few weeks I've come to the conclusion that while it is a decent starting recorder and it could be useful it's about 2x more expensive than it should be.The builtin mic is surprisingly good and when you put the windsleeve on it records sound quite nicely. We didn't even use an external mic a lot of the time. But the price is where this product loses a point. Just a bit too expensive for what it does.
The power pack is not for the UK I ordered this In a matter of urgency .After looking at the Mains ac supply its not for the UK I don't want to send it back as I am on location. As for the MIC 4 stars.
Far too weak If you want to record blaring live music no problem. If you want to record unamplified people talking in anything but a small room this is a lousy choice. Even set at maximum volume and sensitivity you'll barely be able to understand half of what you recorded. It drains batteries quickly and it's badly overpriced. Thumbs way down.
Portable and User Friendly I am a classroom music teacher and am thrilled with the qualiy of recording and how easy the Zoom H2 is to use. No more setting up a big recording system with microphones on stands. I was suprised how well the Zoom picks up in any environment and adjusts to what size group I am recording. I can now record my small group ensembles as well as my choir of 50 students with ease and hear the playback immediately through my classroom speakers.
Zoom H2 portable recorder The Zoom H2 recorder is not user friendly and you cannot hear the recording right after you record not unless you connect it to speakers or earphones. It's not so portable if you can't listen to your playback without hooking it to something. This is not the product I thought it was. The recordings are very clear and the surround sound works great. The instruction book does not give you clear instructions on how to work it. It takes allot of time to figure things out and I still do not know how to make it function properly. I bought one for my husband and myself and we both feel the same way. When I read all the reviews prior to buying they rated this product 4.5.The only thing I agree with is the surround sound and clear recordings. I hope in the future Zoom Corporation develops a better recorder that is not make in CHINA of cheap plastic. I will give it another couple of months to figure it out.
Good features but some flaws The Zoom H2 has a lot of features and is a great product for musicians who are recording live events. I've used it for micing musical instruments and concerts and it gives good results on par with similar products. When my attempts to record birds and animals here in the rainforest gave disappointing results. At the moment it's connected to my computer as a microphone for Skype.ProsFour internal condenser mics can record 2 or 4 channels directly to an SD cardExternal mic and line inputUSB connector for transferring files or for direct recording to computerA lot of features Tripod mount metronome tuner compressor headphone jack etcConsAs with many inexpensive recorders Line Input is a joke. You'll need to use an attenuator to get the levels correct.Internal noise is a problem if you're trying to record faint sounds at a distance wildlife birds etc.
Does the job quite well actually. Just spent a day with this unit. First the audio quality is excellent. Nice features. The included accesories are great. The interface is a little quirky but I got use to it after a while. The case is of cheap plastic but that doesn't bother me. There is a silicone case I may purchase at some point. What does concern me is the SD card door. The design is poor. It will break in due time. Also the unit's USB feels like 1.0. Very slow file transfers to my MacBook Pro. Solution? Take out the SD card and pop it right into my Mac. Can't comment on battery life yet. Using DuraCell Alkaline. I got the unit to record audio for videos I shoot. The audio the unit records is superb. I might upgrade to the H2N later this summer but for now this little guy rocks.
