Great recorder great price! I'm a graduate student starting my dissertation research so I needed a recorder for interviewing and taking verbal notes during my observations. I haven't started using it yet in the field but I've played around with it quite a bit and I'm really pleased with the simplicity of use and the recording quality.

Digital Voice Recorder I wasn't sure how this recorder would work but I absolutely LOVE it! I got it for ghost hunting I haven't caught anything yet but I'm sure I will.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a recorder for any purpose. I use mine for Ghost Hunting. This recorder works amazing. It picks up details around you that you don't hear with the naked ear. I use it for ghost hunting so I am not using in inside a classroom or anything like that but it would work great for that as well. It plays back loud and clear. I would recommend this for anyone that needs a voice recorder for any purpose. The back light and display light up great for nighttime use.
Incomplete Package When i received the package the outer carton of the product mentioned that the box contained the batteries and the carrying case as well. However the box did not contain either of this. I am surprised. I believed in shopping with Amazon trusting its brand credibility. If there are exceptions on the product i believe it would help if it is clearly specified on the website.Of course when i bought the product the site had no mention about the carrying case. I therefore spent money separately to buy this.So i am now unsure which is true. Did the site miss out to mention about the case or was the packing compromised.
WS700M Digital Recorder Small and lightweight. Performs satisfactorily for my purpose. Once a file is saved you cannot add to that file you must create a new file. MicroSD card slot adds to internal memory.
Epic FAIL. Did you record that? uh no broken Can you go below a onestar review?I should have paid attention to the negative reviews. I have had this professional product for yes you guessed it four months just outside the weak warranty period way to stand behind your products Olympus of course. I am a professional journalist and rely on voice recorders so I did a ton of research before I went with trusty Olympus spending $134 I see it's down to $99 now no surprise considering the unreliability they're probably trying to unload them. I'm very careful with my professional equipment which I depend upon. I've been a longtime Olympus fan digital video and still cameras but this thing is the worst.
Cute little recorder So far I am very pleased with the functions of the recorder it was simple to set up and start recording and it also included a extra disc for recording you can record on the recorder itself or record to a disc you instal on the side so you have plenty of space for recording anthing you need and it gave me plenty of space for what I needed the recorder for .

It is my fourth Olympus recorder I've been using them for years and all of them still work well on 7/17/2012 the 1800 died because I left the batteries in it for too long. With these recorders you should remove batteries if you'll not use the unit for awhile. Else the batteries can corrode the contact wires or the long storage makes the software go crazy. You don't lose your recording if you remove the batteries for it's all stored on a chip. You only lose the date and time and maybe some of the other settings for the recorder. But you can't lose the recordings.This 702PC has special features the others even later models don't have. My review here will be piecemeal as the microSD card ordered for this unit hasn't yet arrived so I've not tested it. I'm testing on XP Professional all service packs installed.================= PHYSICALITIES ======================This unit feels more substantial comfortable in the hand versus the other models I have. It is about the thickness width and heft of three AAA batteries it holds 2 which ship with the unit about the height of a CD jewel case. Big convenient buttons. Optionally big letters on the LCD screen. Too much glare from the face plate. Contrast levels also don't seem to make any difference. The voice files can be transferred to my PC. Looking forward to not losing this one and years of great service. Good little recorder I purchased this to record conversations in an office setting. It works well and the playback through a PC is very clear. With my other recorder an old Sony I liked to review recordings while driving with the recorder on the console. This unit will not allow this because the sound gets raspy with the volume way up. I have to turn the volume back and hold it. The sound in a home or office setting is fine. AMAZING! This little guy is fabulous at catching my lectures! The sound is great! I have no problem listening to my recordings right after class through earphones or even through the AUX outlet in my car!It was very easy to transfer the recording to my computer. The recorder is pretty easy to use. The index function is pretty handy to help mark important parts of your recording.I've only used it for one day so far but if I change my feelings about this recorder I will update my review. Love it I love this recorder is has all the functions that I need my teacher lectures very fast and this give me good quality sound when listening back. It seems to fit ok into any iphone or itouch leather case which I've been able to find online for $6$10. It's worth it. I cracked the screen on my first one when I put it in the bag with a 12pk o' beer. It's now a 16gb storage unit. The 2nd one I bought I used more ruggedly cause I had a case & ran into 2 more problems. 1st the headphone jack. I somewhat damaged it by too much yanking on the wire while it was in my pocket. I thought it was just the headphones at first. The 2nd problem I ran into and my major concern is the power switch. One way powers on/off the other way is the hold function which renders all touch screen & other buttons off. Unfortunately this switch is a spring activation switch which has to be held for at least 10 to 20 seconds before the unit comes on. And if that wasn't bad enough my switch broke. Now my player can only be turned on by connecting it to my computer and can only be turned off by setting the auto shutoff. Also the touchscreen functions seem to have very slow reactions. HOWEVER!!! for the price it plays all music files & most simple video formats avi. divx. xvid. mp4. mp5 pretty well. If you're a torrent downloader you'll like this product for the price. If you like or have mac devices itunes iphone or itouch. Don't bother. Awful I just got this a couple of hours ago and I can easily say I regretted it as soon as I opened it up. Looks cheap feels cheap and works like it's cheap.The touchscreen is a joke. All the cards played files very well but multi track recording was so so. I was frustrated and wanted a simple card to use for a home recording studio. I have heard about MAudio and decided to give the Delta Audiophile 2496 card a try. It's an older card made by MAudio and works very well in Windows 7. I use the card with Cool Edit Pro Band in a Box everything addition Real Band Sony Acid Poser Anime Pro Power Director 64 Bit. It's a no frills rock solid sound card. I am very pleased with the card and will look to MAudio for future purchases. Great Product Really good audio card. Used the crap out of mine. Might look on ebay for a better price though. PCI interface problem This product was recommended by the Sibelius music software commpany in order to achive zero latency in playing back Sebelius scores. However it turned out that the card has a PCI interface and my computer has only PCI x interfaces so is not compatible. I returned the product and then contacted MAudio as to an alternate solution. They suggested a couple of their upgrades. There were two problems with this. 1 the other cards had extensive features such as multiple sets of outputs that I do not need and they were significantly more expensive. I would be buying features that I did not need. 2 in spite of MAudio's recommendation to move up to these cards nowhere in their specifications or their user manuals do they say that they will support PCI x interfaces. They all only say PCI. This confusion has caused me to not want to mailorder another card that may not work.I was not able to test the features of this card so my rating of three stars is misleading. I cannot say that it is either bad or good. It's about time! Thank you MAudio! Ok let me start off by saying it's about time that someone got it right and MAudio got it right! I have been looking for quite some time for a sound card to use with Ableton Live 8.2.7. This card fits the bill 100%. It installed on Windows XP Pro with zero problems was so easy to setup in Ableton with my Behringer Xenyx 1622FX mixer and Alesis Q49 midi controller. There is virtually no hiss or hum when using this card in fact it is so quiet it blew me away. The sound quality is top notch bright has great bass and is very detailed. Its like night and day when compared to the Soundblaster card I was using that sounded like I was recording in an electrostatic tunnel. This card has none of the latency problems that plagued me for so long with my previous Soundblaster cards that I tried to use with Ableton thanks to the 36bit Embedded DSP. The latency is so low it makes recording vocals and guitar a breeze. The onboard midi interface is flawless and the ability to use S/PDIF is a dream come true. I have used this card and I mean used this card to the limits and it has never failed me be it in a live situation or in my home studio setting. I never thought I would find a soundcard as reliable high quality and easy to use as the Audiophile 2496 and I am looking forward to buying another one in the near future. You can't use this card in many new computers! I bought this card due to its great reputation. I downloaded Windows 7 drivers and installed them in my fourdayold Dell Inspiron 620. The sound card arrived today. I took the cover off the Dell and it doesn't have a PCI expansion slot. It has a PCI Express slot and the card will not fit in it. According to the research I did PCI is an obsolete format and PCI Express is on the way out to be replaced by PCIe.It looks like I will either have to see if the seller will accept a return or install the card in my threeyearold Dell that is getting ready to die. Beware No more sleep/hibernate on your computer They say it's Windowscompatible.A false statement.The sleep mode is officially not supported and surprisingly it really doesn't support. With 2030% chance it will output sounds only either left or right channel or both off after waking up. The only way to fix it is to reboot the whole machine and restart all the applications.Their suggestion was Do NOT sleep or hibernate. They regard it as a feature not a bug.This was my customer service experience and I figured out that I'll get a similar level of customer service from them if I have another problem.I've been consistently using sleep mode for more than 10 years both in Windows & Linux which I think is one of the important functions of the OS.You may want to search their forum to learn additional issues before buying to avoid writing this kind of review like me.I have requested Microsoft to remove this product from their compatibility list. Installs easily and works great with Windows 7 Having read a number of negative reviews regarding the installation software included with the Audiophile 2496 I went to MAudio's website and downloaded the drivers for Windows 7 64 bit and loaded them before physically installing the card. Once I booted the card installed and worked perfectly with my Cakewalk pyro Audio Creator that I use to record from vinyl using line and USB input. In fact the installation was a little too seamless as there was no New Hardware Found messsage but I checked System Information and found the device listed with the correct drivers installed. What a relief as I was not looking forward to contacting MAudio's support department. I can't say for sure that the sound output is better than that produced by the audio on my motherboard but it seems to be and the controls for input and output are far superior to what I had. Overallvery pleased with the product. Obsolete card obsolete troubleshooting On the surface this card looks great particularly if you want just a simple I/O audio card that is not wrapped up in bells and whistles.However do yourself a favor and check MAudio's forums and tech support pages first.I run a very new homebrew PC. Quadcore 8GB RAM Win7 64bit etc. The MAudio pages offer drivers for Win7 64bit so I assumed I'd be in good shape. I also am very wellversed in troubleshooting and PC maintenance so even after seeing a few troubling reviews I figured I'd have a go of it anyway how hard could it be to get an audio card running?Whoops.The crackles pops and generally poor audio that many many other users have found was all over the output never mind the inputs which I didn't even get around to trying.Visiting tech support presents you with a laundry list of archaic troubleshooting tips that I have not had to try on *anything* since 1995 checking interrupt conflicts? Trying a different PCI slot? Messing around in the BIOS? They make it sound like it is your fault that their card is so fussy.Ridiculous. Though to be fair I tried every last one of their tips. No change. Returned the card and went back to my obsolete EMu 1820 which still performs better on beta drivers then I suspect I could ever coax the MAudio 2496 to. Finally Perfect I am a musician running a recording program. Windows 7 64bit Music creator 5 multi track system. I don't want surround 5.1 or whatever. I just needed a good ASIO sound card that could handle alot of tracks at once without snapping cracking and crashing. This is the giant leap above the onboard sound card. Excellent frequency response ease of instalation and operation and fast. Nice extras too. Perfect..! I ordered this from 'JM Prime'.. got my item before the estimated due date.. absolutely no complaints from me.. i would buy this soundcard again.. and i would buy from them again based on this.. soundcard came in perfect condition.. easy install.. my windows pc running XP recognized it immediately.. driver install was a breeze simple setup for a great item.. Quality recorder with a few weaknesses I have used my Panasonic RRUS380 for about 2 years and have been happy with the performance of this product. The quality of the audio is above average I tried about 8 different models and compression of the sound file is very efficient. If you plan on using it for personal use it would be a good choice.If you want to use it in a business setting I would not recommend it. The problem is the proprietary file types that Panasonic uses cannot be played with anything other then their software. You can convert to .wav but it's an extra step that shouldn't be needed. They do offer a player you can give to someone with the files but I've never been able to get it to work.The other big problem is the access rights the software requires. It can not be used by multiple users on a single PC running Windows XP. It must be run by someone with administrator rights who installed it. If I install it and run it and you have administrator rights it still will not run correctly for you. If you don't have admin rights forget about it. software hassles mean I'll never buy a Panasonic product again My experience exactly mirrors that of one of the other reviewers of this product. I lost the software for this recorder in a move and cannot find any information on how to obtain new software on the Panasonic Web site. It is bad enough that I would have to buy it On HPs site for example you can conveniently download the software for their electronic products for free but I can't even find any information on how to buy it. The recorder I bought for $100 is now virtually useless to me. Never again. make sure you know what you're buying If you're just looking for a device to replace a tape recorder so's you can record lectures or yourself DON'T BUY THIS. It's way more than what you need.You see it's actually a VOICE EDITOR. So the instructions are quite complicated the PDF file for example is 81 pages.It comes with a software program that you set up on your computer but which in my estimation is not userfriendly. I've had it for like a week and I'm still trying to figure it out.Not that the product is a piece of junk or anything. It's a quite solidlymade little machine.But if you're looking to simply record voices this is WAY more complicated than you need and you're gonna spend hours figuring out how to get it to do simple tasks.Another complaint the audio files you create can be played via the inhouse software system or transformed into WAV files after which they are portable. But you must have other software if you'd like to further convert the WAV files into Mp3's or WMA's.UPDATE After having used this thing all summer for a college course I would like to add additional insights gleaned after having used the thing long after figuring it out.First of all the mike seems to be of really poor quality. I know this doesn't make a lot of sense since presumably Panasonic is including the same mike as in the cassettetape recorders. But no. The quality you'll get is markedly below what you can get with a cassettetape recorder. And there's no adjustment level for the quality of the audio file you're making.As a result of this the thing will maybe go for 5 hours before it's full. Since this is nonadjustable this is a useful piece of information.I used it as I said for recording a professor though he moved around a bit for the most part I was sitting under his nose for most of the lectures. For this situation set the thing on dictation rather than meeting. Counterintuitive but you'll get better results. Recorder review This recorder is the perfect light weight recorder with plenty of space to store hours of material. I have used it for both inividual interviews and focus group meetings and in each instance the recording was tremendous. The functionality of the device is simple and even without reading the instruction book I was able to figure out how to use it. Downloading to your computer is simple and takes very little time. I would encourage anyone looking for a quality digital device to consider this one as it is lightweight and durable. Batteries seem to go somewhat quickly so I might encouage people to consider rechargable batteries as an option to save some money long term. Ideal for people doing interviews for their dissertation or other research studies. worst software It is a nice recorder. the software is a nightmare. it makes a very simple thing easy. I bought it to record a lecture and burn to cd which is apparently an impossible task. Software is terrible. Great product horrible support I've had my rrus380 for almost a year and recently needed to reinstall the voice editing software. When I couldnt find the installer cd I assumed I'd be able to download from the panasonic site after all the software would only really be useful to someone who had bought their hardware. After a frustrating amount of time looking for that I finally landed on an email form for support and sent an email asking how I could obtain the software. Actually the form didn't give any feedback after hitting submit so I kind of assumed I had sentTwo days later I called their toll free number at 1800211pana and spent a good half hour wending from parts to support to other departments through their jeckyl and jeeves like voice menu system which doesnt understand operator or other or. Support sent me to sales sales disconnected me then sales sent me to support. Finally Katy in sales broke the news to me the part for the software I can only use on the device I bought from them is $25 plus shipping of $6 for something I had hoped I'd quickly download off their site. Note that the manual is a single 11x16 page you can download free as a pdf. All I need here is the software installer.That is really horrible service. They could have gotten me for the $25 particularly if I hadn't had to have worked so hard to find out it would cost me and especially if it was a key for immediate download but having to work to find that I would have to pay for software media the software I already own was really bad. Then there's the $6 handling fee that tells me I'll have to wait on some delivery service rather then downloading grrrr.That said I'll confess this is great hardware. It's extremely convenient and the software despite a horrible glitzy and unintuitive interface it extremely usefull. I'm going to go now and talk myself into buying an Olympus. But I'm not sure I'll succeed they might still get their $31 filthy lucre from me. Save a lot of typing I bought this to replace my microcassette recorder for a series of 1 on 1 interviews not knowing the great software that comes with it. While on the road I loaded the software and as a previous reviewer states it is alot to get through. However if you want to dictate your own papers this is a great system. The speech recognition software did not help much for the interviews but my own work afterwards writing up the results was greatly reduced.The intial setup of voice recognition is long cumbersome and sometimes frustrating as the software tries to learn your speech patterns and using the learning/training software multiple times helps accuracy ALOT but it was no different with ViaVoice and MS voice recognition software. Once the software knows your voice prepare to type very little. I was writing a paper and decided to see what would happen. I talked rambled for about 65 minutes total. The system recognized about 97% of my speech. I transferred the translated speech file to my word processor and let it find the grammatical/structural errors and then I went through the paper while listening to the speech on my computer. I stopped and made corrections as needed. Good recorder horrible software The recorder is easy to use and the microphone is very sensitive at a recent interview I was conducting it picked up the voices of people talking in the hallway outside the closed door of the interview room. Trouble is I cannot figure out the software and I am not a technoidiot. I don't care about using the software for voice recognition since I interview many people that wouldn't be practical but I can't even figure out how to get the files off the device and onto my hard drive. There are five files on the recorder and they don't even show up in the voice editing software window. I'd assumed when I got the recorder that it would be drag and drop but it isn't.I have just ordered a Sony recorder that IS drag and drop and that needs no proprietary software. Whether it was just my lessons so I could post them online or to record audio for student portfolios and feedback I never really found a good way to do it. It always felt combersome. I had to have my laptop and an microphone and then I had to worry about power and storage space. I never really got a good set up that worked well.So when I got my hands on the EasiSpeak Pro to try out I got excited because there has to be teachers out there just like me in similar situations. Basically its a wireless microphone that records and stores upto 4 hours of audio. For me the best part no batteries. It is completely rechargeable.It works like other digital recorders. Press the record button and that's it. When done you stop. Every recording is timestamped so when you head over to your computer to grab the audio you can identify each one easily.No computer? No problem. You can play back the recordings through the built in speakers or hook up some headphones and listen. So you could use the device as a listening station or to model good speaking or reading skills.I had no trouble out of the box to get going. I did some sample recording of my 2 year old practicing some reading and the pick up was great. When we played back the files there they were crisp and clear and editing was a breeze.I wish I had an EasiSpeak Pro in my classroom to capture all those moments that trying to get with a laptop just won't do. EasiSpeak Simple and Easy To Use! I love this little gadget was very easy to use for both myself and my kids. I think my favorite part is that it doesn't use batteries.it charges through a USB port!I used the EasiSpeak in several ways. The first way was introducing a new center to my students. They had practiced the skill before but had never played this particular game. They really enjoyed getting to listen to me explain the center while I was actually working with another small group!The second way I used the EasiSpeak was to allow the kids to record their answers to the centers not only on the recording sheet but record them on the EasiSpeak. It was able to check for correct answers AND check their reading fluency! It was a twoinone assessment tool! And the kids were having a blast recording themselves!The third way I used the EasiSpeak was to record myself reading a book from our class library. I have a handful of students who are reading below grade level. I chose a book that was on grade level recorded it with the EasiSpeak and then they were able to listen to it while following along in the book. LOVE IT! This is a GREAT product!
