Good product It has been a good product and a pleasure to use. I like that it uses triple A batteries the amount of memory it has works for me and battery life seems good. I found it easy to use. The battery life is good.It is important to note however that this is my first recorder and I have no points of comparison.
Excellent Product!!! Excellent product! Easy to use with good sound quality. I have used this recorder almost on a daily basis for over two years and it far exceeds the cheaper brands I have purchased. This recorder has even gone through the washer and after a drying period worked fine. This is a high quality item well worth the money. All I do is plug it into my USB port and download the files I need to save. Playback on windows media is great! You can crank up the volume on your computer for clear sound. When this one finally does go I will be purchasing the exact same.
Hits and Misses We bought this to record board meetings. The meetings aren't very long but this little puppy goes through batteries like crazy. I have to replace the battery every other meeting and the meetings are only 1 hour long. Also it's difficult to transfer to Windows Media Player. I should be able to figure it out but I'm not a computer genius and I don't think I should have to be. Instructions are not good for the operation of this dvr. It also randomly loses data from time to time.

Olympus WS210S Recorder for bird calls I'm trying to catalog all the birds that live on our land and their calls are much easier to gather than sightings of them. I don't need anything fancy but when I play back the song there is a lot of hiss. Perhaps ambient sound wind rustling leaves etc. freaks out the mic? If anyone has suggestions or insights about the hiss please let me know.Downloading the recordings to my Mac is easy something I couldn't do with previous recorders and the sound seems to clear up some when played through the computer.
Review for Macintosh Users and Those Matching Sound With Video I'm currently pulling what little hair I have out of my head. The issue Finding the hideous WMA Macintosh workaround. One would have hoped that Olympus would have used a more universally recognized sound format than WMA. First find an audio pgrm that actually will convert to AIFF or mp3.Well I found that an app called Switch which is now shareware not free. Fortunately I didn't pay for it because the other big problem is that when you try to match up the Olympus files with video there's the slightest mismatch in speed in which the sound files were recorded at 99.75 percent of the video. So then you'll find that the sound slowly drifts apart from the video.It's too much hassle to deal with all this because there's no streamlined workflow. It's nice to use when you're not wanting to match video with Olympusrecorded sound because the drift isn't a simple workaround that I know of. Mp3 and even WAV files are easier to work with but not WMA files. Again this is about the Macintosh platform.
Olympus WS210S Voice Recorder 141960 Brown I must say for the last three years I've been stationed overseas and so I order things often on Amazon. Since having an APO address things aren't able to be shipped here often. And when it is it take at least a week and a half to get here. This has been the fastest I have ever received something I ordered. It was sent from the happy store. Again hands down on the shipping.Now I am a court reporter for the military and sometimes the recording equipment more often than not picked up a lot of footsteps paper shuffling etc. It's usually hard to hear. Now I use this device as the backup to our recording equipment. And I often have to use the recording from the Olympus WS210S to actually hear it. It's easy to use and records great. The fact that it has the direct connect to the computer is so handy. I will suggest this to many others as their backup. Many thanks.

Olympus DVR Everything seems to be working. The box was sent promptly with the bare essentials included with instructions but I still need teaching in how to use it.
WS700M Digital Voice Recorder Bought this unit about a month ago and it has all the features I need for what it is and does. 4GB capacity is large enough to put music on it and listen to or record hours of conferences seminars important meetings etc. decent dual microphones on the unit and it was Cheaper than buying at the OVERPRICED store called Best Buy. I have bought some in the past and this Unit is pretty damn good for the money i paid around 74.99 vs Best Buy 109.99 after taxes $119. I saved about $35. It was delivered within 7 days. I shop around for everything and always price compare with Amazon because most of the time I can find it cheaper than the local stores. Oh the other cool feature is that it comes with a rechargeable battery and charges via connecting to your PC with its hidden slide out design built in USB connector which i didn't realize at first how to use but it was cool as well. Voice activation is a very good feature as well. This unit for the money is very good buy after researching all the competition. I've had some units in the past and this one has been the best all around. i actually just found this cheaper than what i paid for it NEW for $73.64 at [] SHOP AROUND PEOPLE.. reviewsprice compares etc..
Very good recorder needs USB 2.0 Have used this recorder for several months. It has very good sound lots of options lots of menu levels to navigate good battery life small but highly usable size. Will charge included NiMH AAA battery while connected via USB need to change menu setting for regular alkaline AAA so it doesn't try to change. FM radio Ok but needs headphone leads to work as its antenna. Startup is sometimes slow as memory gets filled. Only significant improvement it needs is USB 2.0 for whatever reason Olympus chose USB 1.1 and download to a computer is glacially slow with large/many files i.e. ~30 min with 5.5 Gb.
Decent quality while it lasted ultimately a bad purchase Purchased this item for my son who is a college student. He was very pleased with the quality but just two months after purchasing this product I am having to return it. Started out by freezing and having to remove the batteries to get the thing to start back up. Then today it simply just stopped turning on.Look else where for a solidly built voice recorder.
Simple and easy to use! I bought the recorder used and it works great! I have a mac and uploading the finals is very simple. You hook the device up to your computer via usb and drag the tracks in to iTunes and label as you would like. I use a different folders on the device to keep recording of different classes straight. Overall I could not be happier and I wish I had started using a recorder earlier in my academic career.

Great recorder The recorder works great. It has plenty storage and the speaker is loud enough to review what i recorded. Read some bad reviews about the speakers and quality of MUSIC played with the recorder. Suggestion..buy an Ipod to list to music instead.
Everyone Needs One I'm a Real Estate Broker it is so handy to remind me of appointments and get all those for sales by owners. I love it so much I bought one for my daughter who is a very busy mother and needs to remember all the sports events groceries and meetings. Careful what you're ordering My fault for not scrutinizing the product specifications carefully enough. Unlike other similar Olympus digital voice recorders this model does NOT include the capability of storing and playing back MP3s. As I was seeking to replace a unit that did have this capability this is a waste cost for me as I don't have a valid basis for returning it. The WS510M is what I should have purchased.

Not for broadcast I'm a radio DJ and was hoping to use this unit for some music plus backup for commercials. There is no 'cue'. When you hit pause it gradually fades out. It should stop instantly. You can't go to a particular track and put it in pause or cue. It is totally unsuitable for broadcast use. There are probably uses for it like nonstop playing of music but definitely not designed for broadcast use.
Works Ok For the most part it works fine. It does have some bugs At times it will only record one channel left or right I just shut off and turn on and it is fine. 1/4 jacks are not real solid first thing I noticed when I hooked it up Over all it's ok for what I need to do but wouldn't recomend for pro gigs.
Good Enough for < $70. The UREC5 is best thought of as an inexpensive substitute for a cassette tape recorder. The key word is inexpensive.The UREC5 has a somewhat quirky user interface and a truly awful user manual. But it works well enough once you figure it out.The UREC5 is limited in many ways *It can record only mp3 format at one bit rate 128kb/s it would be more useful if it could record in an uncompressed format. *It does not have manual level controls. I don't know if it has some type of internal autolevel but I suspect it just records at very low gain so as to avoid the possibility of clipping. * It will not work with SD cards over 4GB or USB flash drives over 8GB sizes which may become obsolete/unavailable in the near future. *As noted the user interface is quirky. There's no way to name files but it will create a new file when you start a new recording session.My opinion is that the sound quality of the mp3 files is not all that good. One expects mp3 decoders to all produce about the same analog output but mp3 encoding can vary between codecs and for whatever reason my subjective evaluation is that this one does not sound all that good.Then again analog tape often doesn't sound all that good either and this recorder is < $70. With that in mind it is satisfactory substitute for an analog tape deck with the added convenience of producing digital files on computerreadable media.In short it's a good enough standalone digital recorder. But if you want more versatility or better quality audio then you need to either spend more for a higher quality digital recorder or use a PC with a high quality soundcard and appropriate software.
