Olympus Digital Voice Recorder I really like this product. For the price it's a steal. I do wish it had a bit more features to it but again it's not $300. I bought this for college because I write terribly slow and I can listen to my professors' lectures over and over again until I get the notes I want written. One of my classes it rather large for my school and other students are a little loud. Even though it's a quiet room when you have that many people in a single room they just tend to not be silent. I tried using one of its helpful functions this function can't remember what it's called has a bar set and if the surrounding noise an air conditioner or other constant rumble is apparent it does not record this provided you have the bar set just above this. My professor however gets kind of quiet.
Great little recorder This item is easy to use. With a long battery life and a monstrous memory I can record all my thoughts and interviews without worrying about missing anything.

Not the fastest device to get going I grabbed this for onthefly notes. It's great and all but it requires several button presses to start recording far from ideal in my opinion. Sound quality is good for voice recording and I like the micin and the microSD storage.Three stars only because of the inconvenience of buttons. Several buttons are multipurpose as noted by another reviewer and it takes 3 'clicks' and a wait of 12 seconds to start recording from an 'off' state. If I wanted to spend that much time prepping the device I would just use my phone. So now I do.
Good product It's a good recorder picked up a lecture from over 20' away well enough. There's a bit of a steep learning curve in getting it to work but once you get used to their scheme it's ok.
Poor Quality I bought this recorder so that I did not have to carry my Zoom recorder with me when only needing to record vocals. I got what I paid for a cheap difficult to use recorder. It does not link up with iTunes. It requires a special flash memory card which proved to be very expensive. Additionally the quality of the metal is so cheap that the battery cover will not close completely. I would not recommend this product.
not a fair chance to try it new It was broken when it arrived the switch on the side was broken off I had to use cellophane tape to hold in place. I called coby and they said I needed to contact the seller. A 3 week stay in the hospital and 3 weeks in a rehab kept me from returning in 30 days I would have liked to know also it had to be within 9 inches of someone talking would have done no good needed to record doctor admitting he did not get the tumor out of my lung after all. I believe coby has a yr warranty but on amazon was not offered. So I finally recorded my own voice and got it to play it back. It is not something I would like or would order again especially this kind.
A glitch After recording lectures for a few hours the device refused to save anything I was recording with a mysterious error code 002. The frustrating part was that the problem surfaced not during the recording but after the fact when I tried to stop recording.To their credit their techsupport was readily available at 89pm! and was very helpful. Reformat the internal storage device per their instruction apparently resolved the problem. For now though I am carrying around an old fashioned taperecorder as a backup. I wish I didn't have to do that.
Nice product This voice recorder is great. Battery life varies and I couldn't connect it to my PC with Vistaluckily I have a Windows XP laptop that I was able to transfer my recordings to. COBY tech support isn't good through emailas they don't respond so if you have issues just call them.
Great product! Works great good price good sound quality and battery life. Tons of storage and hooks to computer to download files if desired. Some features are a bit tricky to access keep that manual handy for awhile. Would definitely recommend.
Worse over time I liked this when I first got it. No problems for the first 2 weeks. But the longer I had it problems started occurring and more frequent with time.Thats the problem. If it decides to turn itself off then everything on that recording is lost 6 times a day. Or if it freezes up twice a day then the only way to unfreeze it is to remove the batteries and lose the recording. The hold button doesn't work either. It refuses to delete single entries and skips directly to the delete all option.I am happy with it and the sound quality when it records and saves. But find it very irritating when it stops for no reason with full batteries. Which seems to occur at random. Sometimes after 2 min sometimes after 43 min of recording or any point inbetween.
Great Digital Voice Recorder! I just bought this digital voice recorder and it works great!ProsIt is easy to use looks good and the speaker is great when you hear back what you recorded. The USB is very easy to use when you plug it into the computer. Tells you the Day Month Year and the Time which is great! Also the microphone you can set it to either HIGH or LOW setting. High for farther away and Low for closer up. That is a great feature because the sound quality will be better depending on where you are recording.ConThe only con that I can think of is that when you move while using the digital voice recorder when your recording it makes a static noise so you cant move that much or it will make a static noise which is hard to listen back to what you reordered.I would recommend this digital voice recorder.
Amazing little machine I was a little hesitant to purchase a brand I had never heard of. This product has exceeded by far all my expectations. The audio quality is amazing even in open air events and large auditoriums. The file system must use some fantastic compression as it creates a WAV file and a 2 hour recording only takes up about 70 MB.

Reviewing The EasiSpeak Pro Back when I was in the classroom I went to great lengths to try and capture audio. Whether it was just my lessons so I could post them online or to record audio for student portfolios and feedback I never really found a good way to do it. It always felt combersome. I had to have my laptop and an microphone and then I had to worry about power and storage space. I never really got a good set up that worked well.So when I got my hands on the EasiSpeak Pro to try out I got excited because there has to be teachers out there just like me in similar situations. Basically its a wireless microphone that records and stores upto 4 hours of audio. For me the best part no batteries. It is completely rechargeable.It works like other digital recorders. Press the record button and that's it. When done you stop. Every recording is timestamped so when you head over to your computer to grab the audio you can identify each one easily.No computer? No problem. You can play back the recordings through the built in speakers or hook up some headphones and listen. So you could use the device as a listening station or to model good speaking or reading skills.I had no trouble out of the box to get going. I did some sample recording of my 2 year old practicing some reading and the pick up was great. When we played back the files there they were crisp and clear and editing was a breeze.I wish I had an EasiSpeak Pro in my classroom to capture all those moments that trying to get with a laptop just won't do.
EasiSpeak Simple and Easy To Use! I love this little gadget was very easy to use for both myself and my kids. I think my favorite part is that it doesn't use batteries.it charges through a USB port!I used the EasiSpeak in several ways. The first way was introducing a new center to my students. They had practiced the skill before but had never played this particular game. They really enjoyed getting to listen to me explain the center while I was actually working with another small group!The second way I used the EasiSpeak was to allow the kids to record their answers to the centers not only on the recording sheet but record them on the EasiSpeak. It was able to check for correct answers AND check their reading fluency! It was a twoinone assessment tool! And the kids were having a blast recording themselves!The third way I used the EasiSpeak was to record myself reading a book from our class library. I have a handful of students who are reading below grade level. I chose a book that was on grade level recorded it with the EasiSpeak and then they were able to listen to it while following along in the book.
LOVE IT! This is a GREAT product! I had my students read into the microphone and then listen to themselves. I was also able to share the student's recorded reading with their parents or even use it for meetings with the Reading Specialist etc. I told the students when they become fluent readers they can record themselves reading entire books for the lower grades.

lesson learned I can't rate the K2 meter as it was not shipped the MEL meter was the highlight of the order it worked fine and it was easy to use nice large display and backlight. The Colby voice recorder was extremely hard to set up and when it was finally set up it crashed and wouldn't turn on not sure if the set up problem was the due to an issue that caused the crash I ended up buying everything seperately somewhere else for not much more money and returned the combo package. The seller review posted right after mine had the same issue with the K2 meter not being packed in the shipment.

Excelent A excelent and VERY versatile machine. It's just what I've been looking for since the demise of cassettes.
perfect for my application I got this just recently. out of the box it worked with no difficulty the default recording setting is fine. The LCD screen however could be simplified with less clutter and info. other than that i couldn't be happier.
Bad Charge Mode I received the recorder and installed four new AA NiMH 3000mAH batteries that were previously fully charged. The battery selector was found to be in the Alkaline position and I moved it the NiCad/NiMH position before installing the batteries. The batteries install over the tiny switch so if the switch must be moved it must be moved to the correct position before any batteries are installed. The unit turns ON and appears to be functional in that I was able to set the date and time. It correctly sensed the installation of a 32GB Sandisk card. The instruction manual indicates that battery charging only takes place when the AC adaptor is connected and the recorder is OFF. This is where I found this unit to be defective. The display flashes a battery symbol a blank screen and produces a clicking sound approximately every second. In addition both the peak and record LED's flash in synchronism with the clicking sound. I called Sanjean and spoke with a technician. He told me that the battery symbol must remain displayed with bars that show the charging process and that this unit is defective. I called Amazon and a replacement unit will be shipped. It seems that others have received defective Sanjean units. I previously received a defective Sanjean radio that was replaced without any protest.
SD Card Not Readable and Format Taking Long Time When I insert an SD card the LCD says NO SD Card. When I select Menu System Setup SD Card SD Format = Yes the LCD says Format The 2 GB Class 4 SD Card has now been formatting for 8 Hours. How long should the format take and when would I know it is done? There is no support provided at the Sangean USA web site.
Didn't Work Sent to China for Help It looked like a solid item but upon arrival and set up it would not record. We contacted the company we purchased from and they put us in email contact with the mfg in China. Nothing against the company we purchased from but trying to get something working via email with the time difference of China.didn't work for us.
Pretty Cool Digital Version of a Tape Recorder This thing is incredibly easy to setup and use. The menu controls are a little clunky as I had to remind myself to press menu to return to the previous menu but the wheel is pretty intuitive and makes it easy to navigate. Other than setting up some of the options you put in a memory card and then plug it in and go. It's easy to record your own voice or hook up an auxiliary device like an MP3 player or stereo and record that. I have not used the advanced features like setting up the recorder to record shows from the radio at a preset time. Other than that the only downside is the price. It's 4X or 5X more expensive than a cheap stereo system or an old tape recorder.
Tremendous ! I bought this reorder for business meetings and conference room use. I tested it today at my son's basketball game after it first arrived. The recording quality is neary astonishing. It has a resonance that reminds me of my father's old reel to reel I used to use to record when I was a kid without any of the mechanical noise of course. Although that machine was outmoded even back then it had a far superior and more realistic audio quality than cassettes or anything else.Similarly the Sangean stands dramatically superior as compared to the shrill tinlike audio that's common in most smaller sized digital recorders out there today. Yet the Sangean is also considerably cheaper than most of the professional recorders out there.This would be a fantastic recorder for things like nature sounds podcast production news reporting etc.
sangean dar 101 recorder sangean recorder worked great for 2 months. then there was a static background that would not go away. i called sangean and they said send it to us with $8.00 and we'll fix it under the warranty. 3 weeks went by and i still did not have the recorder returned to me. i called them again and they said it would take them another 23 weeks because we're doing the best we can. so i guess they are backlogged with nonworking sangean recorders.DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK RECORDER. HORRIBLE WARRANTY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.
BEWARE!! Mine made batteries EXPLODE!!! Sangean DAR101 digital voice recorderWhile there may be a number of decent features of this unit it mine at leasthas a fundamental flaw that is downright DANGEROUS to itself and others! Inside the battery compartment is a slide switch to select either alkaline or NiMH rechargeable battery type. Obviously there should be NO charging voltage sent to the batteries if ALKALINE is selected but in MINE that switch simply FAILS to turn off the voltage from the external power. This can and DID make a BIG MESS inside which I tried to clean up as best I could. This goes right along with other comments about the overall look&feel being on the cheaper side in this case being more than just cosmetic.I wish I had caught it in time to return but I guess 30 days was all the grace one can expect.
Good product for field recording I was pleasantly surprised to receive this product much before the expected delivery date. It was very easy to handle and work with. The recording has several settings which makes it versatile to record. The quality of stereo image is clean . I have not so far checked the recording with external microphones. I can play and record in the SD card. Have still to check all the features.
