Does a Great Job I'm a vocalist who always had someone else handle the recording end. I bought the H4n for practice at home and I managed to turn my small office into a studio. The instructions on operation were easy. Once I played around with the balance and volume I was able to create decent vocal tracks so that when I went into an actual recording studio I only had to do one take on the six songs I sang. With the remote you can eliminate the clicks involved in the manual pushing of buttons when ready to record from standby. The delivery was fast days before the scheduled delivery time. I'm going to have fun with this recorder.
Excellent Product Excellent package to buy however the case in the picture was different from the one I actually received. Slight disappointment with the vendor.
Zoom H4n 8Piece Recorder First off my set is a 7piece set NOT 8piece set because I have NOT yet received the carry case which I paid for. Regarding the unit it performs excellently in all phases. However the manuel is the worst ever. Who writes these things? If you are experienced in using high end recorders you'll figure it out eventually. Just don't find yourself having to use the device the moment you receive it you will be challenged. My unit arrived quickly and in good condition. I reserve judgement whether or not to buy from this company again because of the incomplete order.
Superb!! This Zoom H4n microphone is excellent! After some detailed experimenting with both the builtin microphones and then the XLR inputs for microphones I already had I was impressed with both the stereo sound and the 4track sound.
Zoom H4n digital recorder I had happily and successfully used a Zoom H4 recorder for about five years when it went missing mysteriously from my car and I immediately bought the H4n to replace it. The n stands for new and this recorder is indeed new in many nice ways.Recording in mono or two or fourchannel stereo from builtin or external microphones in .wav fullCDor any of an infinite variety of .mp3 compressed formats with perfect accuracy direct to an SD card this machine like the old one is simply a delight. The new Zoom H4n is a bit larger and heavier than its predecessor but the more substantial feel is actually welcome. The builtin microphone array now places the mike diaphragms perfectly equidistant from the source to avoid phase mismatches and the coverage axes of the XY array can now be varied from 90 degrees out to 120 degrees with simple quick adjustments to the microphone housings. The recording volume can now be adjusted directly without working down into a series of menus and on the fly a huge improvement. Menus for a myriad of various adjustments and settings are also redesigned and far easier to navigate. The recorder can now be mounted to a mike stand directly via a threaded mount on the body not on a separate cradle accesses to batteries and the SD card are separate and much more convenient to work with. And there is now a bar graphic showing remaining battery energy at all times most welcome! My impression is that battery life is at least double what it was in the old H4 by the way. [In order to avoid backEMF or 60Hz artifacts from AC power supplies I always record using battery power but doing that means you'd best carry an ample supply of AA cells two fresh cells will provide about five hours of recording.
Device well worth it avoid package deal The device is very easy to operate and records pretty good audio. The preamp hum is very low but noticeable when recording pure voice. However using Audacity it was very easy to remove since its consistent.It has a slow start up takes a good 30 seconds or so before the device can start to record audio.
An amazing little digital audio recorder If you're a pro or just a serious enthusiast who's looking for an affordable highquality digital audio recorder that's easy to use this is it. This has become an essential companion to all motion shoots that I do with my Canon 5D Mark II.

Shockingly good The H4N overall quality is outstanding.Will take some time to become familiar with all capabilities and execute what the unit can do. Get accessories Case remote headphones very handyand enjoy. What the H4N can do for the price is stunning. The technology and functional abilities can not be matched by any comparable unit and even many that cost much more. The multitrack recording ability is fun and addicting. I have no ties to anything associated with the company This is plain and simple a great product.
Not the quality that I expected This is the 'must have' recorder for videography or so it seemed when I made the decision to purchase. I gave it less than 5 stars for ease of use because it is really difficult to navigate to a file for the purpose of deleting it. I know they want to make it less than easy to delete so you don't delete a file accidentally but the extra steps became laborious and timewasting. Features are good but I gave a 4 star because of the lack of input control. The sound quality is less than exciting because of the 'tinny' sound that I got. I wanted to be able to adjust the input by adding some bass to it but that feature is not available. While I was able to record for voiceover nicely without picking up ambient room sounds the overall voice quality lacked the richness and depth that I was seeking. Headphones are soso. They don't fit snugly on my head but they do the job until I decide to invest in something nicer.
